Book 2 is just as good.
I love this guy. I love the crap out of this sugar addicted hero. Grobs is turning out to be one of my favourite fictional characters. He's just got something. A reclusive personality that comes to life. A fear of abandonment, and an apprehension to admit it.
He sees the world how we think about it in our daily running monologues.
It's frustrating how much much of myself I see in this guy. Tell me I'm not the only one...
On one page he's comparing his girlfriend to a chihuahua and on the next, he's listening the the isolating sound of a ticking clock while he eats peanut butter and a jar of pickles.
This guy just gets to you.
Grobs is still on his journey of trying to figure out who and what he is. Along the way, he develops a relationship with Louise, although it's strained from the beginning. He spends most of his time with the League of Light in an attempt to find his friend Glenn, possibly the only person he really trusts. (Or is he the only one I trust...I'm not sure...)
Vargus and McBain have nailed this character. His inner dialogue is pure genius.
With twists and suspense interweaving into gloriously emotional self doubt, this story is one you won't be able to put down.
So that's good.
I'm waiting with bated breath for book 3.
