Izzy, a woman who often speaks before thinking, is moving on with life after the death of her husband; a man she had fallen out of love with before he passed. Thanks to her best friend Jack, she finds herself back in the dating game, sitting across from odd bods at a speed dating round.
Izzy is lovable and clumsy; a heart warming and memorable character you'll wish only the best for. Her heart is in the right place. After the shocking death of her grandmother, Izzy meets Noel, a local detective, and an accidental relationship blossoms. Amidst coming to terms with her Grandmother's death, Izzy is also confronted by her Grandmother's friends and their absolute conviction that the death was anything but natural.
Izzy chooses to investigate the death with the help of her Grandmother's knitting club friends, Jack and a mostly reluctant Noel. You'll find yourself guessing as the story progresses, making this a great who-done-it. With clues throughout the story, everyone's a suspect.
By far, my absolute favourite has to be the Grandmother's entourage. Betty and the gang are the perfect band of misfits, integrating themselves into Izzy's life with or without approval. They are kind until the very end; a surrogate family you can't help but fall in love with - complete with chocolate cake.
Fun, romantic and a little bit quirky, you're sure to enjoy Izzy's story.
