It's happened again, and it's just as outstanding as it was before.
I've become so used to us being the 'good guys' that I'm struggling with the truth that no one is good any more. Everyone is just trying to survive and to do so, even the good must be bad.
After last week's massacre, this time it was Maggie and Carol's turn to finish off the last of the Negan crew, but it didn't come without tension. And lots of it. It was quite possibly the most tense episode so far. With some killer (pun intended) performances from this week's extras, this episode was another gem in the season six list of epic episodes.
That said, she spares no time worrying about taking down one of this episode's extras as soon as Maggie is threatened. I guess Carol is now trying to make peace, except when one of her own is in danger. But let's take a moment to ponder: Carol is now a peace maker and Maggie is now a ruthless killer. Now that Morgan has rubbed off on Carol, Maggie has become a new breed of carol-super-badass-mother, and you know what, it's pretty awesome. In the past, there have been many role reversals and character shifts that haven't been as satisfying.
Does this band of others, well versed and happy killers that they are, have one very scary boss? Well ... yes. We already know that. So are they part of something greater? Is this Negan crew just the face of a bigger picture; something that Negan is trying to achieve overall?
Let's just hope that means a lot of gruesome killings because, hey, it's always much more fun that way.
Time will tell if this murderous rampage on our newly dubbed 'bad-apocandrians' will have a greater impact when they finally cross paths with Negan. One thing is for sure: Someone is going down. We haven't had a big name go in a while, and I'm scared for all of them.
