Frankly, the episode finished before it began. It left us with unanswered questions, and not in a good way. Gone was the usual TWD mid-season cliff hanger and replaced with a storyline that really just fizzled off and died. I’ll be the first to admit, the Season five mid-season cliff hanger left me gob smacked. I was ready to petition outside the headquarters of TWD writers that evening. Quite honestly, if we had of lost a big name, perhaps this episode would have felt more … real.
Perhaps the only story bigger than Deanna and the story continuation of the major wall fall was Carl's new nemesis, Ron. Perhaps this was a look at how mature Carl has become but it does raise the question: Why is he protecting Ron by not telling Rick? Is Carl scared of becoming his father? Or is he protecting Rick rather than Ron?
My last comment on Deanna’s death is her sudden ability to shoot a zombie right in the head. If only she had done this a half hour ago …
Negan is our new threat and in fact, just what the doctor ordered. With fake bad-guy Morgan in the ‘Morgan Special’, and the Wolves we have encountered so far that just seem to go gung-ho into any situation, I’m well overdue for some mind manipulation and good old fashioned badassery.
Another gore shout out goes to the team who finally revisit wearing their favourite outfits: The Zombie Special. Man it makes me happy when they cut those things open.
Is this the end of Alexandria? Who out of our team of apocolyptonites will survive and who will become part of our extended team?
My bets are Sam's not going to make it.
