Simon Cross is a lonely professor who accidentally transports himself and his assistant, Elizabeth to the 1920's, without an immediate way back. From the beginning, we learn that the two characters are secretly attracted to one another. As with so many romances, it is the male who seems averse to commitment.
To be honest, I downloaded this book purely because it was a time travel adventure, not realising it was classed as paranormal romance. If you are not a fan of the genre, don't let this sway you. The romance aspect is background noise to the adventures to be had in 1920's New York.
I also didn't read this book on the promise of vampires, however, it was a satisfying angle within the story.
So without classing this as paranormal or romance, I think it is best to recommend this book to those who don't mind either of the two, or those are looking for an easy weekend read.
Before you do settle in, be aware this is the first book in a long series.
